Sanitation and disinfection in the workplace

According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines shall prioritize risks in the workplace according to the action staircase this means that risk mitigation measures shall be carried out in the following order of priority:

First of all: eliminate the risk.

Second, limit the risk.

Ultimately: protect workers from the risk by using personal protective equipment.

In the event of a confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19 in the workplace, the risk must be removed, which we then do by sanitizing and disinfecting the workplace.

Our method of removing the virus is done with the help of electrostatic pressure sprayers as well as a high-level disinfectants developed in Sweden that is clinically tested and works after 30 seconds of contact time.

High-level disinfection implies a proven maximum antimicrobial effect against the entire microbial spectrum. From some of the most deadly microorganisms to more commonly found viruses and bacteria.

LifeClean has proven efficacy against, among other things:

Spores such as Clostridium difficile and Bacillus subtilis

Viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), EHV, Norovirus and Calici (winter vomiting disease)

Bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria

Fungi such as Candida albicans and Aspergillus brasiliensis (black mold)

Eliminates biofilm

Effective also against multi-resistant bacteria such as MRSA and Acinetobacter

Prevents further resistance development by preventing protein and RNA formation and disabling DNA and DNA reproduction — with LifeClean there is no risk of resistance development.

The broad impact combined with the fact that it is environmentally friendly and not classified as harmful to either users or the environment makes it a very good choice for us as a sustainable company that is also Nordic Swan Ecolabel and reports on our chemical consumption every year.

Our method of sanitizing and disinfecting is highly adapted for maximum effect while being sustainable and must not be dangerous for our employees or your employees.

The broad effect combined with the fact that it prevents further resistance development by preventing protein formation and RNA formation and disabling DNA and DNA reproduction means we get rid of more than just the Coronavirus but also other diseases.

How to sanitize the workplace?

The workplace is sanitized with electrostatic pressure sprayers because this allows us to access hard-to-reach surfaces and sanitize the premises faster and with less means, since the agent is not dangerous, it is possible to put the premises into use immediately after the disinfection has been carried out.

This means that we save time and money, which allows us to keep the cost of execution down while the premises can soon be put back into use as no waiting time is required.

However, we usually recommend that the premises be ventilated because there are those who are sensitive to smells, some sense it and some do not feel it at all (our premises are regularly disinfected), so our recommendation for being on the safe side is to ventilate if possible.

When should we decontaminate?

In the event of a confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19 in the workplace, we always recommend that cleaning be carried out, this is also how we interpret the Work Environment Act.

Many people also choose to sanitize between shifts or shift operations, some have zoning, some disinfect the premises regularly, it depends a little on what the requirements picture looks like.

We are not your customer, can you clean with us?

Yes we probably can, but where it is not cleaned and clean, we always recommend that a major cleaning be carried out because otherwise we disinfect a dirty room which will certainly remove viruses and bacteria, but a place that does not maintain a high level of cleaning simply does not have the best conditions after the disinfection has been carried out.

Of course, your cleaning company can do this, but if it is not clean before, we are happy to do it in connection with it so that you can get a good overall idea of the work done by us.

Is it possible to check or measure after disinfection?

Yes we can do that and that is also why we recommend that a reset be carried out in connection with this if the level of cleaning was not high enough before, what we measure then is ATP, with measurement tools carried out by trained personnel.

Information from Hygiene Diagnostic

From a hygiene and cleaning perspective, it is of great value to be able to objectively measure ATP from surfaces or in water samples. Visual checks are more or less subjective and the eyes are also unable to detect if there is invisible contamination.

By measuring ATP, it is possible to check cleaning in a few seconds. Comparable microbiological analyses of e.g. total numbers of aerobic microorganisms require many hours or days. ATP measurement is therefore used, for example, in self-checks in food handling and healthcare where there is a need for quick action and feedback.

ATP in a sample is proportional to the amount of biomass. That which we associate with dirt and microbial contamination. Low ATP values mean that there is little “germ food” and that the cleaning works effectively. If it is the other way around, i.e. high ATP values, then the risks of growth and spread of infection increase. Where ATP limits for approved results are to be set depends on the activity and the hygiene requirements.
